Behind this is an eighteenth-century embroidery, itself made from a patchwork of Indian fabrics, so the design was already a collection of borrowed pieces before Rubelli came to it. The printing has been handled to bring up both the texture and the metallic of the original, and the result has the slightly uneven, pressed quality of hand block printing, ink sitting on the surface rather than soaking into it.
A paper face on a nonwoven ground, 70 cm wide in 10-metre rolls with a 70 cm repeat in both directions, in three colourways. Certified to EN 13501-1 and ASTM E-84, and tested to EN 12149. Made in Italy.
