A quarter of this cloth is metallic yarn, which is a great deal, and at 230 g it is the lightest of the four Rococos. The two facts together explain how it behaves: closer to a woven tissue than to a furnishing brocade, and it moves.
The horizontal repeat is 138 cm, the full width of the cloth, so nothing recurs sideways within a single drop and the design reads as one large drawing instead of as pattern. Joining widths needs thought. Silk and acetate carry the rest of it, and the vertical repeat runs to 97 cm. Peter Marino abstracted the design from Tiepolo drawings he owns.
