Rubelli | Salomè

Silk organza, embroidered with metallic yarn and sequins, at 100 g a metre. The dots are placed irregularly, and that is the point: the source was a hand-woven ikat, where the pattern is dyed into the yarn before weaving and never lands quite where it was meant to. The embroidery reproduces that drift by hand.

The repeat is 2.5 cm by 3 cm, small enough that the eye reads a field rather than a pattern, and the ground stays open between the stitches. It is a sheer, not a curtain that will block anything. Hung against a window the sequins catch light in the same scattered way the dots are set. 130 cm wide, embroidered in India.
