Nine per cent of this one is metallic yarn, which is a lot for a furnishing jacquard, and a quarter of it is viscose. Both are there for the same reason: a glaze is a reflective surface, and reproducing one in cloth means finding fibres that return light rather than absorb it.

The patterns come from Dalpayrat ceramics, the palette from Paolo Veronese, and Peter Marino from both. Eco-nylon carries the warp, cotton the weft. The repeat measures 93 cm up the cloth by 70 cm across it, which puts one complete statement of the design into an ordinary curtain drop. 450 g at 140 cm, offered in a single version and rated for upholstery as well as decoration.
