Fragments of seventeenth and eighteenth-century damasks from the Rubelli archive, cut apart and set beside one another like tesserae, then rewoven as one design. Nothing in it is new and the whole of it is: the joins are where the pattern happens.
The cloth is made to behave like glass. Cupro in the mix carries a cool, sharp lustre that cotton alone would not give, and the surface has the half-transparency of a blown vessel, which is the reference. Carlo Scarpa's Murano work is the specific one.
