It started on rough paper: hexagons drawn by hand and then filled in with an oil pastel, quickly and without much care for the edges, so the colour goes down patchy and skips wherever the tooth of the paper stands highest. The jacquard reproduces that unevenness instead of correcting it, and gives the shapes enough relief to sit above the ground.
The result is a geometric pattern with none of the coldness geometry usually brings to a weave. It is also a working cloth: flame-retardant, washable, 22,000 Martindale, certified for contract upholstery and curtains in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and the United States, plus IMO 8 for marine. Five colourways, 140 cm wide, 460 g a metre. Design by Formafantasma, made in Italy.
