Flocking bonds a short pile onto a woven ground, printing texture rather than colour, and here it is applied to Rubelli's Wong satin. The pattern arrives matte and slightly furred on a face that is otherwise bright, so the contrast is between two surfaces rather than two shades, and it shifts as the light moves round the room.
Cotton and silk with a little polyamide, 436 g a metre, 140 cm wide. Eleven colourways, each a calibrated pairing of ground and pile. It belongs in decoration: curtains, blinds, cushions. Made in Italy.
