Venetian terrazzo is marble chippings bound with linseed oil and tailor's chalk, a recipe old enough to appear in Palladio's Four Books of Architecture, and its appeal is that the fragments are random while the surface is not. The cloth works the same way: shine and matte scattered over a plain ground, so the eye reads aggregate rather than pattern.
Cotton and acetate with cupro, which supplies the shine, at 303 g a metre and 20,000 Martindale. Ten colourways, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
