Circles, ovals and triangles follow one another in a tight rhythm across this velvet, set into the ground the way cut stones are set into a piece of jewellery. That is the intention, and the weaving is done in India, where the reference comes from.
The scale is small. A 20 cm vertical and 11.5 cm horizontal repeat means the figures read as an all-over texture from a few paces and only separate into individual shapes close up. The pile is viscose over a cotton and polyester ground, 645 g a metre, and it is rated for light upholstery: a small chair, a stool, a headboard, cushions. Five colourways, 140 cm wide.
