Gondolas, bricole, masks, bridges, Murano glass and the winged lion that stands for the city are all present, arranged less as a pattern than as a stage set. Gabriel Pacheco drew it, his third print for Rubelli, and the joke is in the title as much as in the drawing: Venice as a theme park, every motif playing its part.
It rewards close looking. Between the large subjects sit small motifs, graphics and micro patterns that only appear at a distance of inches, so the design works at two ranges at once. The repeat is nearly square at 71.5 cm vertically by 73.5 cm across, which is large, so allow for it when ordering.
Printed on pure cotton, 290 g, 150 cm wide, at 20,000 Martindale. That is a cushion, a headboard or a blind rather than a working chair. One colourway only, made in Italy.
