The source is a sixteenth-century velvet held in the Rubelli Foundation archive, and what has been copied is not the pattern so much as its condition: the small bald patches and thinned places where the pile has gone. Those losses are redrawn in metallic weaves, so the wear reads as light rather than as damage and the cloth passes for a plain until you are close to it.
The warp is cupro, a cellulosic fibre made from cotton spinning waste and known in the trade as vegetable silk, which is where the low shine comes from. The repeat is large at 50.5 cm by 70 cm. Twenty-two colourways, 380 g, rated for medium use. Design Formafantasma, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
