Painted rococo panelling is behind this one, wood rather than cloth, and Rubelli attributes the fragments to an eighteenth-century Venetian hand on the strength of the line and the crafted detail. What has carried into the weave is that line: forms classical in outline but loosened, the way rococo loosens everything it inherits. Rubelli itself calls the result a lampas.
Thirteen percent metallic yarn lifts the figure off the ground, with silk, linen and cotton making up the body. The repeat is 42 cm by 35 cm, which puts a whole unit comfortably inside a cushion or a chair back. Six colourways, all pale. 370 g, light use only, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
