In Kutch, small round mirrors are stitched onto cloth by hand and set into embroidery. This design keeps the geometry of that tradition and takes the mirrors out, leaving small holes where they would have been, so light passes through the openings instead of bouncing off them. On a curtain that is the better trick, and it turns an ethnic motif into a contemporary one without losing the source.
The embroidery is multicoloured and worked on silk, made in India where the reference belongs, and it repeats at 33 cm vertically by 44 cm across. At 135 g on a 135 cm width this is very light: a draping cloth and nothing else, and the openwork means it will always be read against the light rather than against a wall.
