Old cloth tears and thins in particular ways, and this lampas is a study of those failures: matt weft passages standing in for the worn places, set against a silk satin ground that stays bright around them. It reads as a plain from any distance, with an unevenness you register before you can name it.
The repeat is small and almost square, 17.2 cm by 17.5 cm, so the effect stays even across the cloth rather than gathering into a figure. Sixty-four percent silk at 212 g, which is light. Thirteen colourways, each one lifted by the satin behind it. No abrasion figure is quoted, which puts it with curtains, blinds and cushions rather than with seating. 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
