Atchison is a double-stripe weave with a tribal character, the pattern running in parallel bands that give the cloth both rhythm and a certain formality. A touch of lurex threaded through the cotton lends a subtle metallic note without overwhelming the design, so the stripe catches light quietly as it moves across furniture.
Woven in India, the cloth is 92 per cent cotton with 8 per cent lurex, 137 centimetres wide, with repeats of seven centimetres vertically and 69 horizontally. Dry cleaning is recommended. Its weight and construction make it suitable for upholstery, curtains, blinds and cushions, and the stripe works particularly well on sofas where the repeat can be matched across seat and back.
