Schumacher | Berkeley Hand Printed Silk

Berkeley Hand Printed Silk is a modern reading of an eighteenth-century geometric floral, adapted from a silk velvet suit held in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation archive. Screen-printed by hand onto slubby matka silk, the medium-scale design carries both pattern and texture, the irregular weave of the ground cloth adding a handmade quality to the printed motif.

Made in India from 100 per cent silk, it is 132 centimetres wide with a vertical repeat of 25 centimetres and a horizontal repeat of 22 centimetres. It suits curtains, blinds, upholstery and cushions, and dry cleaning is recommended. The design is also available as a wallpaper.
