Schumacher | Bianca Matelassé

Bianca Matelassé is a floral woven in relief, the pattern raised from the ground in the characteristic quilted texture of matelassé cloth. The all-cotton construction gives it both body and a soft hand, the design reading as texture from a distance and resolving into botanical detail up close.

Woven in Italy from 100 per cent cotton, it is 133 centimetres wide with a 53-centimetre vertical repeat and 33-centimetre horizontal repeat. The cloth suits upholstery—chairs, ottomans, headboards—and cushions, where the quilted surface adds dimension.
