Blackwell presents exquisitely detailed botanical forms—seaweed, coral, ferns and foliage—layered so that some stand forward while fainter silhouettes recede into the background. Based on a late-nineteenth-century original, the design has an unusual fullness and depth, the overlapping motifs creating a sense of accumulated natural history.
Printed in the United States, the wallcovering is one hundred and thirty-seven centimetres wide with a forty-two-centimetre vertical repeat and a forty-six-centimetre horizontal repeat. It is sold by the metre from rolls just over nine metres long, is spongeable, and is available in three colourways. The design is also produced as a fabric.
