Downtown Velvet is a narrow, irregular stripe cut into a dense pile that catches the light differently along each band, so the colour shifts as you move past it. The stripe is subtle—a 1-centimetre vertical repeat with a 23-centimetre horizontal interval—and the velvet's weight and texture give it a quiet, tactile presence that works as a coordinate or on its own.
Woven in Italy from viscose, cotton and polyester, it is 140 centimetres wide and comes in a wide range of colourways. Dry cleaning is recommended. It is intended for cushions and upholstery, where the pile's depth and the stripe's irregularity add interest without pattern.
