Elmslie Embroidery begins with a jacquard weave that gives the cloth a quilted, matelassé texture, then adds satin-stitched floral embroidery on top, the two layers combining to create a fabric with both relief and detail. The scale is medium, and the embroidery is delicate rather than bold, so the design has presence without weight.
Woven and embroidered in India from cotton, acrylic and polyester, it is 130 centimetres wide. Dry cleaning is recommended. The fabric suits curtains, blinds, cushions and light upholstery—headboards in particular—and is available in three colourways.
