Empire layers a stripe with a basketweave texture, the two patterns sharing the same grid so they read as one surface rather than two. Designed by David Oliver, it has the restraint of a woven cloth translated into print, the detail subtle enough to work as a near-plain or as a foil to stronger pattern.
Printed in the United States, it is 69 centimetres wide with an 18-centimetre vertical repeat and an 11-centimetre horizontal repeat. Rolls are just over four metres long. The paper is washable and suited to walls where a degree of texture and structure is wanted without strong colour or obvious pattern.
