Schumacher | Florentine Velvet

Florentine Velvet is a cut velvet with a striped pattern, the pile cut away to reveal the ground cloth beneath in vertical bands. The contrast between pile and ground creates a subtle play of light and texture, the stripes reading as tonal rather than graphic, and the 8-centimetre vertical repeat gives the design a gentle rhythm.

Woven in Belgium from viscose with cotton and polyester, it is 137 centimetres wide with a 35-centimetre horizontal repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits upholstery and cushions, where the velvet brings both visual and tactile softness to seating, and the stripe can be used to emphasise or counterpoint the lines of a piece.
