Schumacher | George Washington

George Washington arranges six vignettes from the life of the first American president into a grid, each scene framed and separated by a simple lattice. The design is screen-printed on a cotton-linen union cloth and includes playful details—cherries scattered among the historical tableaux—that lighten the patriotic subject matter. The pattern was inspired by a 1970s archive design and created to mark America's 250th anniversary.

Made in the United Kingdom, the cloth is 137 centimetres wide with a repeat of 30 by 46 centimetres. The composition is just over half linen, with cotton and a small proportion of nylon. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and is available in three colourways.
