Schumacher | Grand Gesture

Grand Gesture is a woven vertical zigzag stripe that moves across the cloth in broad, sweeping bands, the pattern built from a blend of fibres that gives the surface both texture and tonal variation. The scale is large and the weight substantial, so the design reads as confident architecture rather than decoration.

Woven in Italy from a mix of polycotton, viscose, wool, polyester and linen, it is 140 centimetres wide with a 51-centimetre vertical repeat and a 71-centimetre horizontal repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits upholstery—sofas, armchairs, ottomans—and cushions, and the bold repeat comes into its own on larger pieces where the zigzag can be seen in full.
