Schumacher | Greek Key Embroidery

Greek Key Embroidery translates the ancient meander motif into a raised embroidered band that runs vertically down the cloth, creating a subtle stripe of texture against a plain ground. The embroidery sits proud of the woven linen-cotton base, so light catches the raised thread and gives the design a dimensional quality that reads differently depending on the angle of view.

Woven and embroidered in Belgium from three-quarters cotton and a quarter linen, the cloth is 145 centimetres wide with an 11-centimetre vertical repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, where the embroidered stripe can be used to emphasise the vertical line of a chair back or the fall of a curtain.
