Schumacher | Gustavian Dance Velvet

Gustavian Dance Velvet takes its cue from the geometric detail of an antique rug, translating it into a mid-scale pattern of chevrons and facets cut into cotton pile. Designed by Miles Redd, the velvet's multiple textures catch the light differently across each surface, so the geometry reads with depth and movement rather than flatness.

Woven in Belgium from cotton, it is 137 centimetres wide with a vertical repeat of 97 centimetres and a horizontal repeat of 34 centimetres. The substantial weight and pile make it well suited to upholstery on chairs and sofas, as well as cushions where the pattern can be appreciated at close range. Dry cleaning is recommended, and it is available in two colourways.
