Hand Combed Plaster replicates the look of thick pigment dragged by hand across a wall, the gestural marks left by the tool creating a directional, almost calligraphic texture. Each piece is made by hand in the United States, so no two runs are identical and there is no mechanical repeat—the surface reads as continuous but never uniform, bringing an artisan quality to the wall.
It is produced on paper-backed material, 69 centimetres wide, and sold by the metre from rolls of 13.71 metres. Spongeable for maintenance, it is intended as a wallcovering and comes in six colourways. Designed by David Kaihoi for Schumacher, it brings a sculptural, hand-worked character to interiors where pattern would be too much but flat paint too little.
