Hydrangea is a large-scale printed design created by Paul Poiret exclusively for Schumacher in 1930, its painterly clusters of hydrangea blooms set against a cotton-linen ground. The design reads with the looseness of a watercolour, the flowers forming a vertical repeat of 51 centimetres and a horizontal repeat of 36 centimetres, so the pattern unfolds generously across curtains and upholstery.
Printed in the United Kingdom on a cloth of 52 per cent linen and 48 per cent cotton, it is 140 centimetres wide and requires dry cleaning. It suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, the natural fibres lending the print a soft, absorbent ground that takes colour with depth and clarity. It is available in six colourways.
