Schumacher | Izapa Hand Woven Brocade

Izapa Hand Woven Brocade is a geometric panel worked on a backstrap loom by Maya women weavers in Guatemala, each piece embroidered and brocaded by hand. The chevron motifs repeat across the cloth at a modest scale, and because every panel is individually made, small variations in size, pattern and colour are inherent to the textile.

Woven entirely of cotton, it measures 48 centimetres wide with a 12-centimetre vertical repeat and a 48-centimetre horizontal repeat that runs the full width. Made in Guatemala, it is recommended for dry cleaning and suits upholstery and cushions where its singular character can be appreciated.
