Khotan Weave takes its pattern from antique Tibetan rugs, weaving tigers, snow lions and peonies into a cloth of considerable weight and texture. The motifs are exotic without being literal, the animals and flowers stylised in the manner of ceremonial textiles, and the thickness of the weave gives the design a tactile presence.
Woven in Italy from viscose, cotton and linen, the cloth has a vertical repeat of 92.7 centimetres and a horizontal repeat of 68.6 centimetres. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits cushions and upholstery, where the pattern and the substantial hand of the cloth can both be felt and seen.
