Lotan Dragon Embroidery sets an intricate dragon motif, inspired by eighteenth-century Chinese carpets, into a double-stripe layout embroidered onto linen. The contrast between the labour-intensive stitching and the plain ground gives the design both presence and restraint, and the large repeat needs space to be read properly.
Made in India from linen and polyester, it is 149 centimetres wide with a 76-centimetre vertical repeat and 67-centimetre horizontal repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, particularly larger pieces where the embroidered dragons can be seen in full.
