Majorelle takes its floral pattern from the richly coloured sets and costumes that Leon Bakst designed for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes, translating the exotic, theatrical palette and scale of early twentieth-century stage design onto a wide-width wallpaper. The pattern carries the same drama and chromatic intensity that made Bakst's work so distinctive.
Printed in the United States, it is 137 centimetres wide with a vertical repeat of 77 centimetres and a horizontal repeat of 69 centimetres, sold by the metre from 9.14-metre rolls. It is spongeable and suited to walls. The design is also available as a fabric, and comes in three colourways.
