Malia is an embroidered patchwork of small geometric blocks that recalls the gridded, inked patterns of Polynesian tapa cloth. Woven from cotton and raffia yarns that are piece-dyed after weaving, the two fibres take colour at different rates, so the surface acquires a tonal depth and subtle variation across the repeat.
Made in Italy, the cloth is 135 centimetres wide with a 16-centimetre repeat in both directions. Dry cleaning is recommended. It is offered in several colourways and suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, particularly chair backs where the embroidered detail can be seen in full.
