Ming Fret takes a traditional Chinese architectural motif—a continuous, maze-like lattice—and renders it as a textured weave, the cotton pattern sitting proud against a linen and cotton ground. The geometry is intricate but orderly, the kind of detail that rewards close looking while holding its own from across a room. The repeat is compact at 14 by 10 centimetres, so the fretwork reads as an all-over texture rather than isolated panels.
Woven in France, the cloth is 127 centimetres wide and composed of three-quarters cotton with a quarter linen. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and is available in six colourways, so the pattern can be adapted to different schemes without losing its character.
