Murat Velvet is an ikat stripe rendered in velvet, the pattern blurred at its edges in the manner of resist-dyed cloth, then woven with a satin ground that lifts the lustre of the pile. Originally designed in the late 1970s, it carries a tone-on-tone palette and a rhythm of vertical bands that repeat every 34 centimetres horizontally and 20 vertically, so the stripe reads clearly without dominating.
Woven in Belgium from viscose, cotton and polyester, it is 137 centimetres wide. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits upholstery and cushions, and is available in several colourways.
