Nanjing is a modern interpretation of chinoiserie, with stylised trees, pagodas and fretwork fences drawn from an archival print. The motifs are arranged across the cloth with the clarity of a scenic paper, and at 64 by 69 centimetres the repeat is large enough to read as individual vignettes rather than an all-over pattern.
Printed in the United States on 100% linen, it is 137 centimetres wide and comes in four colourways. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and the scenic quality of the design works well where panels can be seen at full drop.
