New Beat, designed by Backdrop, is a print of concentric arches that move across the cloth in multiple directions, each line carrying the tonal variation of a hand-painted brushstroke. The effect is rhythmic and painterly, the medium scale—seventy-two centimetres vertical, sixty-six horizontal—allowing the pattern to unfold without crowding. Printed on pure linen, it has both a soft hand and good drape.
Made in Italy, it is 132 centimetres wide. Dry cleaning is recommended. It suits curtains and blinds, where the drape and rhythm come into their own, as well as upholstery and cushions. It is also available as a wallpaper, and comes in four colourways.
