Schumacher | Portsmith Check

Portsmith Check is a small-scale woven gingham with a three-centimetre repeat in both directions, the check formed in a jacquard construction that gives the cloth a subtle relief and a little more body than a plain weave. The scale is domestic and unfussy, so it works as a foil to larger patterns or holds its own in a simpler scheme.

Woven in India from cotton, it is 137 centimetres wide and around middleweight for a cotton cloth. Dry cleaning is recommended. The fabric suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and the small repeat makes it easy to work with across different applications.
