Ruan Dragon Damask is a satin-weave jacquard drawn from a 1920s Schumacher archive, its Art Deco chinoiserie rendered in the decadent idiom of the period. The dragon motif reads as ornament rather than folklore, the lustre of the cloth shifting as light moves across its surface, so the pattern advances and recedes by turns.
Woven in Italy from cotton and silk—70 and 30 per cent respectively—it is 147 centimetres wide with a vertical repeat of 53 centimetres and a horizontal of 33. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and is offered in several colourways.
