Schumacher | Ruhlmann Moiré Velvet

Ruhlmann Moiré Velvet is a jacquard-woven velvet in which the pile is cut and arranged to mimic the rippled, watered effect of moiré silk. The geometry of the pattern—chevrons and faceted shapes—shifts as the light catches the pile at different angles, so the cloth appears to move. The vertical repeat is 85 centimetres, the horizontal 69, a scale that suits larger upholstered pieces where the pattern can unfold.

Woven in India from silk and cotton, it is 137 centimetres wide. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth is intended for cushions and upholstery, where the silk content and the depth of the pile give both weight and a quiet sheen.
