Saint Ambrose Velvet takes fantastical creatures and colossal flowers from a sixteenth-century rug and translates them into cut and looped pile. The varying heights turn up the multicolour contrast, so the design shifts as light moves across it, and the scale—a 92-centimetre vertical repeat—gives it presence on larger pieces.
Woven in Belgium from cotton and polyester, it is 138 centimetres wide with a 68-centimetre horizontal repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. The velvet suits upholstery and cushions.
