Sakuru Ikat is a polka dot drawn from Japanese folk tradition and woven as a true double ikat, a technique more than a thousand years old in which both warp and weft are resist-dyed before weaving. The result is a dot that blurs gently at its edges, the pattern appearing to float across the cloth. At a 15-centimetre vertical repeat the scale is domestic and easy to live with, the irregularity of the ikat process giving each dot a hand-worked character.
Woven in India from cotton, it is 114 centimetres wide with a 13-centimetre horizontal repeat. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and is available in several colourways.
