Vionnet Satin takes its name from the French couturier Madeleine Vionnet, and it shares something of her instinct for how cloth moves and falls. It is a lustrous satin-weave blend of wool and silk, the surface catching light with a quiet sheen, the hand soft and yielding.
Woven in the United Kingdom at a specialist satin mill, it is 137 centimetres wide and composed of seventy-three per cent wool and twenty-seven per cent silk. Dry cleaning is recommended. The cloth suits curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, and its weight and drape make it particularly well-suited to pieces where the fabric is asked to perform.
