Cardrona is a textured linen-cotton weave from the Threads Faraway collection, with the design repeating across the full 132 centimetre width, so there is no visible join within a single drop. The blend gives the cloth a dry, natural hand with just enough cotton to add stability to the linen, and the surface has a fine, irregular grain that catches light softly rather than reading as a flat plain.
The composition is 62 per cent linen and 38 per cent cotton, on a 132 centimetre width with a full-width horizontal repeat. It is rated at 20,000 rubs on the Martindale test, a moderate figure, so we would keep upholstered pieces to occasional chairs rather than a family sofa, and the page lists it for curtains and for loose and fixed upholstery. It comes in a single colourway, Parchment, a warm, chalky neutral that works with most wall colours, from a pale plaster to a deeper stone.
We tend to use Cardrona for full-length curtains in a living room or study, and on an occasional chair or bench cushion where the natural texture can be seen properly. It pairs well with a plainer weave from Quintessential Naturals on the main sofa, or with a print from Faraway Wallpaper nearby. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
With a full-width repeat, plan the layout so the design falls consistently across every panel, and cut all pieces for one item from the same bolt to avoid shading. Line and interline curtains for weight, and dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron it directly, and keep any upholstered pieces to occasional use given the moderate rub count.
