Threads | Contours

Contours is a fine, structured linen weave from the Threads Enchantment collection, with a small amount of polyamide woven through pure linen and cotton to give the cloth extra crispness and hold. There is no pattern to read, just a clean, dry plain with more body than linen alone, which is why it holds a fold particularly well at a window and keeps its shape better than a softer natural linen over time.

The composition is 76 per cent linen, 14 per cent polyamide and 10 per cent cotton, on a 140 centimetre width with no pattern repeat. The page lists it for curtains; there is no rub count published, so it is not one we would use on seating. It comes in two colourways, Champagne and Pewter: Champagne is a soft, warm neutral with a faint gold cast, while Pewter is a cool, quiet grey that suits a more graphic, tailored scheme.

We tend to use Contours for full-length curtains in a living room or bedroom where the added crispness of the polyamide helps the fold sit sharply, and for a simple pelmet where a soft linen alone would look too relaxed. It pairs well with a heavier textured plain on the sofa and a plainer weave on a chair nearby. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

With no repeat, quantities are simple, but the weave has a visible grain, so keep the direction consistent across widths and cut all pieces for one window from the same bolt. Line and interline the curtains for weight, and dry clean only; do not wash, tumble dry, bleach or iron it directly, since the polyamide content needs gentler handling than pure linen.
