Threads | Cordoba Wallpaper

Cordoba is an irregular, tonal stripe from the Threads Faraway Wallpaper collection, printed on a non-woven ground. The bands vary in width and density as if brushed by hand, so the effect is closer to a weathered plaster wall or a length of loosely woven cloth than to a formal stripe, and the vertical rhythm adds height to a room without ever looking like a pattern. It repeats every 67 centimetres, which keeps the variation moving down the drop.

The paper is 100 per cent non-woven, 52 centimetres wide, with a 67 centimetre vertical repeat and a straight match, hung paste-the-wall. It comes in seven colourways, Marble, Parchment, Tawny, Dusk, Denim, Ink and Eucalyptus: Marble and Parchment are the ones we use for whole rooms, Tawny and Dusk bring warmth to north-facing spaces, Denim and Eucalyptus sit well in bedrooms and bathrooms, and Ink is the one for a study or cloakroom you want to feel enclosed.

We tend to use Cordoba in bedrooms and hallways where a vertical texture does the work of panelling, and on all four walls of a small room, since the pattern is gentle enough to live with at scale. It pairs naturally with the Faraway fabrics and with plain linen curtains in a matching tone. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

With a straight match and a 67 centimetre repeat, allow a repeat's worth of waste on each drop: a 10 metre roll yields three 2.4 metre drops, so a 3 metre wall needs six drops, or two rolls. Paste the wall with a non-woven adhesive, hang from a plumb line in the centre of the main wall and work outwards, so any irregularity in the stripe falls evenly at the corners rather than on one side of the room.
