Threads | Fallingwater

Fallingwater is a painterly abstract print from the Threads Moro collection, a group of restful prints and structural graphic forms in the colours of sea and sky. The design is printed across the full 135 centimetre width and repeats every 54 centimetres down the cloth, so the composition runs as loose horizontal movement, like water over stone, rather than as a repeating motif. The viscose and linen ground gives it a soft drape and a faint sheen that lifts the brushwork.

The cloth is 80 per cent viscose and 20 per cent linen, 135 centimetres wide, with a 54 centimetre vertical repeat and a full-width horizontal repeat. The page lists it for curtains and for loose and fixed upholstery; there is no rub count, so we keep seating to occasional chairs and headboards. It comes in two colourways, Teal and Linen/Charcoal: Teal is the saturated blue-green version for a room that wants colour, while Linen/Charcoal is the tonal neutral that works in almost any scheme.

We tend to use Fallingwater for full-length curtains in a living room or bedroom, where the horizontal movement balances tall windows, for Roman blinds in a bathroom or study, and on a headboard where the painting can be seen flat. It pairs well with the Meridian Linen and with a textured weave in a warm neutral on the sofa. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

A 54 centimetre repeat is reasonable on quantities, but the full-width design must be matched across widths and the seams placed where the painting is quietest, so ask your maker to check the position of the design at the heading before cutting. Line and interline curtains to protect the viscose from sun, and for a headboard centre the design and keep the direction consistent; dry clean only.
