Fallingwater is a stepped geometric design from the Threads Vinyl Wallpaper collection, its name and its layered, cascading blocks a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright's house built over a waterfall. The shapes stack and overlap in a half-drop layout, each one finished with a faint textured surface, so the wall reads as architecture rather than decoration, structured but never cold.
The paper is a vinyl on a paper backing, 68.5 centimetres wide, with a 76.2 centimetre vertical repeat and a 68.5 centimetre horizontal repeat in a half-drop match, hung paste-the-wall. Being vinyl, it is spongeable and hard-wearing, so it suits hallways, cloakrooms and bathrooms as well as living spaces. It comes in five colourways, Parchment, Teal, Bronze, Pebble and Charcoal: Parchment is the palest, Teal and Bronze bring in colour and warmth, and Pebble and Charcoal are the two darker, more mineral options.
We tend to use Fallingwater on the long wall of a study or a dining room, in a cloakroom where the layered geometry rewards a closer look, and behind a bed in a guest room. The half-drop match with a 76.2 centimetre repeat governs quantities: allow a full repeat of waste on every drop, and check the roll length printed on the batch label before working out how many rolls the wall needs. Paste the wall with a heavy-duty adhesive, hang from a plumb line at the centre of the main wall, and keep every roll on one wall from the same batch so the stepped blocks line up correctly.
