Threads | Foster

Foster is a heavier textured linen weave from the Threads Moro collection, a palette built around the softer colours of sea, sky and stone. The design repeats across the full 137 centimetre width, so there is no visible join in the pattern within a single drop, and the weave has the dry, substantial hand of a good curtain and upholstery linen, with a texture generous enough to give a plain sofa real presence.

The composition is 84 per cent linen and 16 per cent cotton, on a 137 centimetre width with a full-width horizontal repeat. It is rated at 35,000 rubs on the Martindale test, so it is rated for upholstery, and the page lists it for curtains and for loose and fixed upholstery. It comes in a single colourway, Linen/Ivory, a warm, understated neutral that sits at the calm end of the Moro palette and anchors the room without competing with anything else in it.

We tend to use Foster on sofas and armchairs where a plain has to carry the room, on dining chairs, and as heavy curtains where the weight of the cloth helps the drape. It pairs well with the softer blues and indigos elsewhere in the Moro collection, kept to cushions or a single chair. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

With a full-width repeat, plan the layout carefully so the design falls consistently across every panel, and cut all pieces for one item from the same bolt to avoid shading. Line and interline curtains for weight, and dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron it directly, and trim seams flat on tight corners.
