Lombok is an abstract wallcovering from the Threads Faraway Wallpaper collection, printed on a non-woven ground in the earth, sand and mineral tones that run through the wider Faraway range. The motif is loosely brushed rather than drawn with a ruler, giving the wall a hand-worked, informal quality, and the 58 centimetre repeat is large enough to read as a gentle, unforced rhythm rather than a visible grid, letting the eye settle rather than search for where the pattern joins.
The paper is 100 per cent non-woven, 52 centimetres wide, with a 58 centimetre vertical repeat. It comes in four colourways, Parchment, Dusk, Denim and Eucalyptus: Parchment is the palest, whole-room option, Dusk brings a soft warmth to a north-facing room, and Denim and Eucalyptus are the cooler blue and green we use in bedrooms and bathrooms.
We tend to use Lombok on the wall behind a bed, in a study, or on the long wall of a dining room, where the scale can be read across the space. It works well with the Faraway fabrics at the window and a plain textured weave on the seating. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Roll width for this paper is 52 centimetres; roll lengths are commonly around 10 metres as an industry rule of thumb, giving roughly three drops on a standard 2.4 metre wall and around two rolls for a 4 metre wall, though we always confirm the true roll length before ordering. With a 58 centimetre repeat, allow a repeat's worth of waste on each drop, hang paste-the-wall as is standard for a non-woven paper, and butt the joins rather than overlapping them.
